31 May 2023 - Workshop for public within the "Environment for the Future by Scientific Education" project

Workshop for public “Color-full world of plants and animals” took place on May 26, 2023 at Pavol Jozef Šafarik University within the "Environment for the Future by Scientific Education" project. 

Participants were informed about the purpose and progress of the EU-funded EFFUSE project. They were introduced to the activities and objectives of the project with a focus on educational activities in the form of scientific training in the field. Participants had the opportunity to try out interactive tasks and measurements of water parameters, which can be carried out as part of both indoor and outdoor activities. Professionally, the event was provided by university teachers and PhD students from the Institute of Biological and Ecological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Košice, namely from: Department of Zoology, Department of Microbiology, Department of Botany and Department of Biology Didactics.

The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants, who were informed about the project website and the results obtained during previous biomonitoring studies. For an effective comprehensive environmental education, further training and support for teachers in the implementation of purposeful nature education is an essential component, which is evident, not only from the discussion of the workshop participants. The creation of a database of educational materials focused on outdoor education will contribute to the above. These will be freely available to the public as part of the Virtual Laboratory EFFUSE on the aforementioned project website.
